Scania-Long-haulage

Long-haulage

Power, passion and performance. Scania long-haulage trucks combine the highest quality, cutting-edge technology with unique customising options. The result is outstanding operating economy, driver appeal and vehicles precisely suited to your business needs.
A Scania truck is in many ways a driver’s dream. Distinctive styling and generous cab comfort has earned worldwide recognition. Precise handling and stability make sure you arrive in the same great style you left.
Fuel economy and uptime are Scania hallmarks. You can always rely on optimum operating economy that benefits your business.
Whether you go with the awesome power of the legendary Scania V8 or with the renowned inline engines, you can always count on great performance and driveability. With a turn of the key you instantly feel the power that puts a confident smile on every driver’s face.

Scania Active Prediction

Now any driver can achieve a perfectly optimised cruise speed – even on roads never seen before, in pitch black darkness.

Save up to 3% fuel with GPS data

Scania Active Prediction is a unique advanced cruise control system that uses GPS to predict the topography of the road ahead. By adjusting the cruise speed before an ascent or descent, the system is able to save up to 3% of fuel with less than two minutes time loss in a full day’s driving.

Controls the speed depending of the topography

Ordinary cruise control tries to maintain a given speed, whether
climbing or descending a hill. This means unwanted fuel waste.
Instead, a trained driver that knows his or her route enters a climb
with some extra speed to avoid unnecessary gear changes
– and eases off the throttle shortly before the crest, using the
momentum and weight of the vehicle to build “free” speed when
going downhill.

Possible to integrate with adaptive cruise control

Scania Active Prediction mimics the techniques of a trained
driver with absolute knowledge of the route. The system function
can also be integrated with the adaptive cruise control system, always
maintaining the right distance to the vehicle in front and letting
the driver focus on traffic and the assignment ahead.

The exterior styling of the new Scania V8 truck range makes a bold and confident statement on the road.
The unique exterior styling features of the Scania V8 truck range make a statement of independence and ambition. From the front, the V8s are easily recognised by the Black Brilliant grille with special grill mesh and the chromium Scania sign, model badges and air intakes. If you order your V8 with xenon headlights, they will come with special black surrounds.
From a side view the distinctive shape of the exhaust tailpipe – square with rear-mounted and round with side-mounted batteries - will draw attention, together with the elegant chrome trim on the low-drag sideskirt.
The V8 badges on the grille and sideskirts leave no one in doubt about what vehicle that just drove by.

  • Scania, model and V8 badges in chrome finish at the front and chrome trim around the fresh air intakes
  • V8 symbol on sideskirts
  • Distinct front grille in Black Brilliant with special mesh pattern
  • Xenon headlights (option) with dark surrounds
  • Specially-styled exhaust tailpipe with chrome-finish cover plate on left-hand side (with low-drag sideskirts)

Distinct, dynamic and sharper than ever, the Scania range now also includes the new Scania R-series, which sets a new standard in long-haulage truck design and technology. Its strong, articulated lines make a powerful, head-turning appearance wherever they go.
The new grille, with more distinct horizontal bars, features a brighter colour and a larger logo. The shape improves airflow around the corners and admits more air to the radiator and into the engine compartment.

The new bumper design blends into the strength of the frontal styling, while extending the availability of adaptive cruise control (ACC) to a wide range of models. Optional LED daytime running lights and high-pressure headlamp cleaners are integrated in the design and available for all cabs.

Low drag sideskirts are also introduced for several tractor configurations. They harmonise with the frontal styling and lines from the boarding steps. The new aerodynamic shape also improves fuel consumption by 0.6% compared to the current sideskirts. The new sideskirts are designed to accommodate larger fuel tanks, a step up to the catwalk and an integrated left-hand side exhaust outlet. A fuel tank capacity of up to 1500 litres can now be specified on all 4x2 tractor unit, both with EGR and SCR engines.

Sleeper cabs

Scania sleeper cabs set high standards in comfort and performance for life on the road.
At the top of the range, the exceptionally spacious Scania Topline is practically a home away from home. Complete with storage space above the windscreen, in the dashboard and under the lower bunk, as well as provisions for a microwave oven, refrigerator or other auxiliary equipment. This cab is the most expansive living and working environment ever built by Scania.
For maximum payload with reduced weight, Scania Highline, Normal and Low sleeper cabs offer a full range of choices for all types of overnight drivers. The P-, G- and R-series vary in interior height, depending on space and comfort requirements, while the R-series is available with V8 or inline engines.

Safety and driver support

The driver is the most important actor for any transport operation. A driver who enjoys the job and feels at ease will do a better job. This has an immediate impact on operating costs, road safety and the environment.
Thanks to generations of thorough research, design and testing, Scania vehicles have proven to be exceptionally safe in all laboratory and real-life conditions. This is in no small part due to the wide array of innovative safety and support systems in each Scania vehicle.
These developments have allowed us to offer consistently improved driver information, visibility and vehicle response systems with each passing year. Sophisticated braking, electronic stability sensors and camera display units are just a few examples of our commitment to increasing road safety. Our safe and satisfied drivers surely have countless more.

  1. Great post! Trucks have been a strong medium of transportation. Those kind of trucks are often used when transporting large loads from one destination to another. Know More Here about heavy hauling and trucks.
